This cookbook celebrates the rich variety of Turkish meze culture, while paying tribute to the nostalgic atmosphere of Turkey’s rakı tradition. Inspired by classic Yeşilçam films and iconic rakı scenes from both old and contemporary cinema, I used a black-and-white visual style to echo the timeless mood of these moments — and to reflect the color of rakı itself.
Only the meze photographs are in full color, to highlight the dishes as the vibrant centerpiece of each table. The layout is designed like a memory journal, featuring tape marks, note paper textures, and layered visuals that evoke personal stories, shared moments, and the cultural spirit of rakı gatherings.
